Every photographer has a style or system. I’ve developed mine over
30 + years of desire, persistence and hard work. It is about being creative and technically proficient with my equipment and knowing the sports I shoot. Sports and concert photography are about capturing a single moment in time that is non-repeatable.
Everything I do when working a professional event is done with a purpose. A HUGE part of the purpose is the gear I use. For every job, I work with two Canon© cameras (this does not include my back up gear) and the highest quality L series lenses they offer. I use Canon full frame camera exclusively.
My first camera was a Canon 35mm A-1(that I still own). As crazy as it sounds I still enjoy shooting with film.
Experience is not just about time on the camera, it is the ability to problem solve on the fly when equipment doesn’t co-operate. So for me, the gear that I have is just one part of the picture. (Pun intended).
Douglas is mainly a sports and concert photographer based in Greensboro, NC. Outside of the work photography, Doug has a real passion for nature, wildlife and landscape photography and a skill for capturing dramatic and inspiring moments with the camera.
Having covered many professional sporting and concert events, he has worked hard and his work has appeared in several publications plus numerous newspapers. He doesn’t discriminate when it comes to his subjects either; he’s shot everything from football, to lacrosse, to bull riding, to hockey. He also sometimes branches out to other areas and has photographed residential and commercial real estate! Doug’s passion when not working is macro photography and repairing & restoring old photographs within the computer.
When he’s not out in the field, Doug is often found preparing his coming blog with his photos. Many are available to view in his galleries. His blog will contain a lot of great information too and is where he shares his tips and tools of the trade, as well as reporting on his 3 dogs (who also contribute to the blog postings) on which he named the business.
What Makes Great Sports Photography?
Most people have tried their hand at sports photography but there’s a difference between shooting players from the seats on your iPhone and capturing the sorts of high-adrenaline photos that are fitting for the top publications. These pictures manage to tell a story in a single moment and really bring the sport to life right on the page. Doug has decades of experience & education working as a professional photographer and knows just how difficult it is to capture the most incredible stills that really highlight the skill of the players and the drama of the moment. Just take a look through some of his work to see the difference. Lately, shooting the youngest and newest players of their chosen sport has become a concentration. “The youngest players seem to have the most intense and often comical exprssions.
Douglas is also available for commission work. If you are looking for photos for a website magazine or blog or even your office or living rom wall to show the dynamic and exhilarating side of a sport or concert/performance, or wildlife idea you’ve had then contact Douglas. Feel free to get in touch if you need coverage for an event or you’re just looking to buy some amazing shots that will brighten up any room.
It is my belief, as a photographer, that prints or canvases are the absolute best way to enjoy and preserve these fleeting memories!

Personally; I earned a decorated, Honorable Discharge from the Army & the Coast Guard.
I graduated W/ a 2 yr Photography degree in 1990 from Villa Maria College in Buffalo, NY. Started out shooting team action photos, concerts, news/editorial, weddings & modeling portfolios.
Worked as a part-time photographer at the Buffalo News advertising dept. shooting products, event & real estate photography. I was a freelance photographer shooting sports & editorial for a weekly paper that printed 11 separate local editions. I shot promotional engagements & concerts for the largest rock radio station in the market. In Tampa, I worked at a real estate advertising company as the lead photographer, shooting over 80 homes a month. I’ve photographed NFL, NBA, professional indoor lacrosse and AA & AAA baseball games. Shooting nature, wildlife and landscapes are favorites when I’m not working. My wife hates when we take vacations due to my usual load of camera equipment that I drag along.
Currently, Cerberus Photography is offering sports and concert photography as my main concentration with event & real estate as my secondary concentration. These areas have been a part of my work for over three decades. A serious desire grew in to a career when I started shooting concerts, regional sports and whatever castles and landscapes I could find. Germany has several of each (trying to be funny.).
Personally, I have been married to my beautiful, ..intelligent, …funny, generous,…loving …devoted wife Kim for 20 years. We’ve lived in Pleasant Garden since 2013 when Kim’s company relocated her from Hickory. Kim is an accountant with degrees in accounting and teaching. I am a veteran of the U.S.Army and Coast Guard
